Education

WELLthy Communities Inc. aims to promote academic enrichment opportunities among individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds through partnerships with community organizations that:

  • Provide life skills, education, mentoring and advising for youth and young adults.
  • Provide educational initiatives that entail resume building, application preparation, financial aid assistance, as well as professional development and character-building workshops.

 Wellthy Communities Inc. offers onsite and virtual life skills workshops to adult and adolescent residents in our partner family shelters.

  • Facilitated by specialized professionals who will cover a range of topics to include financial literacy, mental health, professional development, and more.
  • Workshops are available on-demand and are tailored to age and demographic.

A virtual learning experience geared to empowering individuals with knowledge and necessary skills to improve their quality of life during COVID-19. Topics covered:

Healthcare

WELLthy Communities Inc. fosters health and wellness in marginalized communities. We host an Annual Holistic Health Fair that offers free resources within all areas of wellness.

  • Included are free health screenings, fitness, and nutrition education, financial advising, life-coaching and spiritual development in collaboration with local organizations.
  • Bringing qualified clinical and health professionals to serve their respective communities that may not be able to obtain affordable health care.

Our goal is for individuals from low-income and deprived areas to have access to tools for healthier living in order to improve their overall well-being.

Holistic Health Fairs

Capital Heights, MD

1st Annual Holistic Health Fair

Focused on serving the needs of low-income and homeless African-American’s living in the Capital Heights, MD and Southeast Washington, DC areas. We partnered with Bowie State University, Prince George’s Hospital Graduate Medical Education and Internal Medicine Residency Department to provide health education and screenings, physicals, and consultations. Community members also received free HIV and STD testing.

Adelphi, MD

2nd Annual Holistic Health Fair

Focused on serving the needs of low-income Hispanic and African-Americans living in the Adelphi, MD area. With the help of our community partners and local healthcare we provided over 50 individuals: 

  • Free health screenings
  • A1C testing
  • Fitness and Health Education
  • Informational resources
Washington DC

3rd Annual Holistic Health Fair

We partnered with Soufside Market, a black-owned business market, to bring wealth to the Ward 7 community.

  • Facilitators successfully taught: Healthy ways to remain active – physically and mentally

  • Partnerships with homeless and family shelters help to provide life skills workshops, case management, housing assistance and resources geared towards their specific needs.

Wellthy Communities had the pleasure of being a part of the Volunteers of America End of Summer Cookout in October! This was an opportunity for members & partners to meet and tour the VOA resource center while making connections!

GiveWell Black Lives Matter

To address the need to support the safety and well-being of those protesting in Washington DC, WELLthy Communities Inc. provided 75 care packages to protesters, which included: face mask, food, and hygiene products.

Well Loved w. Catholic Charities of America

Wellthy Communities hosted The WELL Loved Brunch to promote self-love, self-efficacy, and improved self confidence in young minority girls between the ages of 12 – 18 years. The day entailed a fun, interactive workshop where adolescent females participated in beneficial exercises focused on encouraging positive mental, emotional, and social health behaviors. 
Lagos Nigeria - Community Day

GiveWell with Yaba Psychiatric Hospital

Wellthy Communities Inc. teamed up with Africa’s Health Matters to deliver resources and engage with residents of Yaba Psychiatric Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria. We supplied over 700 USD worth of hospital supplies while providing support in promoting mental health awareness in rural communities in Africa.

Wellthy Communities Inc. launched an initiative to identify leaders serving on the front lines to service our communities. We highlighted distinguished individuals based on community nominations. Nominated professionals were featured weekly on all digital platforms and received incentives on behalf of Wellthy Communities Inc.
